All that Glitters: One Room Challenge Week #3

One Room Challenge™ Fall 2015: Welcome back!  It’s week three–we are half-way through the six week One Room Challenge.  See the Wednesday participants progress here and the Thursday guest participants here.  If you’re just finding me, you can see my prior posts here:  Week 1 and Week 2. A lot has happened this week.  If you remember Week 1 I mentioned that I might paint my existing bed.  Here’s how it looked in Week 1:

I’ve had this bed for sixteen years.  I really like it, but I wanted to change it up a bit.  It has a rusty steel finish that’s very industrial looking and I’m a little tired of the industrial look.  I was inspired by this Bernhardt bed:

And also by this bed that Jessie D. Miller used in his One Room Challenge last fall.  I think it’s from Lilly Pulitzer (love!)

So this week I painted my bed gold.  Here it is after two coats:

Poe was a sweetie and hung out with me the whole time I was painting the bed.  I kept him out of his room while I was painting the walls (I didn’t want Gray Cashmere paw prints on the carpet!) but after he proved to me that the gold paint was too stinky for him to want to lick or brush up against, I let him keep me company.

Hope he doesn’t mind that my husband’s Eagle’s pillow pet that he’s so comfortably resting on will not be in this room much longer!

This week, I also painted the attached Bathroom in Gray Cashmere:

And added knobs to the Bathroom cabinet:

I also received both saris that I bought on ebay.  I decided that this one will become the bedskirt:

And this one will be a Roman shade for the window:

It looks like I have a busy week of sewing ahead.  Hope you all have a great week!

Rachel, the bed looks great painted gold! I also love the color of the “cashmere” wall paint. The saris are a wonderful idea, very exotic and kind of like some Moroccan textiles I’ve seen and loved!!

I wish you could come and redo my guest bedroom!!

    Love your work, Barbara
