My daughter’s first question every year when we decorate our Christmas tree is, “What color ornaments can we use this year, Mommy?” My family room, where we always have our tree, is a totally green room–green walls, green Moroccan lantern, green silk window treatments. Usually our tree is a muted mix of green with possibly a little silver, gold, or white that I vary slightly each year just to keep my family guessing. This year, however, I went a little crazy and let my family add RED ornaments to the tree.
And I didn’t stop there with the traditional red and green theme. I brought in other red accents from around my house, including my red giraffe print ottoman, a red blown-glass lamp, and my red feather wreath that I love, but have never been able to use since it keeps blowing off my front door. It’s now hanging in front of my sun-burst mirror over the mantel.
I’m loving the added pop of the red and think I’ll keep it like this even after the tree and wreath come down.
Happy Holidays from my family to yours!
