Rachel Bauer Design: Family Room Week #6 – The Reveal

orc

This is it.  I’ve been working on updating my Family Room for the last six weeks and now it’s time to show the results.  If you’re new to my blog, see Week #1, Week #2, Week #3, Week #4, and Week #5.

Here’s what it looks like now:

I did run into a few hiccups with this ORC.

#1: My new sectional hasn’t arrived.  I sort of expected this.  This is the one I selected.  I’ll revise this post with new pictures when it get’s here:

#2:  My pagoda valance arrived, but it was made incorrectly.  It’s too wide and not made like the drawing that I provided the workroom.  I just received it today, so I haven’t figured out yet how they’re going to resolve this issue.  It’s beautiful, but not what I ordered and it’s way too wide for the shade that I made for the window:

#3:  I had planned to switch out my Kitchen pendants.  I bought new ones and went to install them today.  I didn’t realize that I’m too short to reach the ceiling when standing on my Kitchen island and I’m too short to reach the lights if I put my tallest ladder beside the island.  So, I couldn’t switch out the lights by myself.  I’ll get an electrician to replace them for me and repost the results.

Thank you to Linda at Calling it Home for hosting us.  I really enjoy the crazy six week rush to get our rooms done, and then I appreciate the results of my much improved home for good.  Please look at the other participants here and here.  I’m already thinking about tackling my Media Room in the Spring.  Check back in April to see it.  And one last note, happy birthday to my daughter, Tabitha.  She turned 13 on Saturday.  Love you!

Rachel
