It’s my favorite time of the year. It’s Fall and the weather is getting cooler (it was only 88 degrees today in Texas,) and time for the Fall One Room Challenge. If you don’t know about the One Room Challenge, it’s a six week event where designers and design bloggers make over one room in six weeks. What a great way to get your home ready for Holiday Guests! And this time around, I’ve decided to make over my Guest Room. Here’s how it looks now:
This room is where my parents stay when they visit, and I’d like to make it an inviting and comfortable room away from home for them. It’s not too bad now, but it’s become a dumping ground of sorts for excess furniture we have. I like the color scheme of blush, gold, and gray. It’s a large bedroom that comfortably fits the King size bed. It just needs a little love to make it more welcoming for guests. My goals for the next six weeks are:
- Add curtains over the relaxed Roman shades.
- Add a canopy behind the bed.
- Create a coffee station so my mom can fix a cup first thing in the morning without having to come downstairs to the Kitchen.
- Paint the walls in the Bedroom and Bathroom.
- Add a bed skirt.
- Add art & accessories.
My inspiration is the Hotel Bauer in Venice. I’ve never stayed there, but when my husband, Jimmy, and I were in Venice and couldn’t find our significantly less expensive Venetian hotel among the winding streets and picturesque canals, we stopped in at the Hotel Bauer, and I went to ask directions to our place. The bellhop walked out with me and led us up the street and over a bridge to the point where our hotel was in sight before going back to his station. The Hotel Bauer has excellent service, beautiful design, and a great name! What’s not to love. Here are some images of the hotel:
I’m not going for a literal copy of these spaces. I’d just like to channel the elegance and Italian-ness of the rooms. This is my eighth ORC. Click the images below if you would like to see my past project reveals:
Please check out the other One Room Challenge participants and guest participants. Thank you to Linda at CallingItHome for graciously hosting us!
Have a good week,
