Thanks for checking in for the last week of this six week Once Room Challenge. To check on the progress so far, see Week #1, Week #2, Week #3, Week #4, and Week #5. You really should check out all of the reveals for the ORC participants and the reveals for the other Thursday guest participants. Again I want to thank Linda at Calling It Home organizing this event. Without her, my home would not be nearly as organized and pulled together as it (kind of) is.
If you’re following, you know that this room is part Guest Room and part Cat Room. My family got a kitten in July, and he needed a place to get away from our dogs plus a place where his food and litter wouldn’t be accessible to the dogs, so this guest room with the attached bath seemed like the best place. We put his food and litter in the Bathroom and put up a baby gate between the Bedroom and Bathroom that Poe (the kitten) can get through but the dogs cannot. Here’s a recap of how the room looked before:

View from bed to TV wall and Bathroom.
And here’s the final result after six weeks of hard work:

Bed is painted gold.
- Gray Cashmere walls and repaired Murano chandelier.

Art Gallery nook. I like hanging these portraits of three woman together-one’s a child, one’s a young woman, and then the older woman- all beautiful.

Poe’s Bathroom.

Swag window treatment and painted bed.

Pillows made from a vintage sari.

Poe’s perch with a cushion with Turkish corners.

Poe’s perch and the vanity.

Updated bedside table in a fresh cranberry color with newly gold rub-n-buffed hardware.

Detail of bedskirt made from sari.

Such an inviting bed!

I have to say that our kitten, Poe, was a perfect client! He loves everything that was done here. Here are a few examples of Poe loving his new space:

Poe at his new food and water dishes.

Poe enjoying his perch.

Poe playing with the swag pattern.

Poe playing with the extra cording from his perch pillow.

Poe deciding which throw he wants at the end of the bed. Ultimately, the other one won out.
- Poe attacking me from within his sari bedskirt retreat.

Poe on the final throw selection.

Poe and Tabitha enjoying the new space.
Thanks for following the progress. This has been an amazing project and I’m very happy with the results. Have a wonderful week and a happy Thanksgiving!
Rachel
Very well done! The gold bed is stunning – such a beautiful update!
Thank you! I love the way the bed turned out!
Beautiful colors and you know how I love color
Keep posting your work
The room looks great. However, your photos are so small compared to the page size, that it’s really unfortunate. Is there a way for you to change your image size?
That bed is such a showstopper! Great job.
Wow! The reveal was amazing!! I would love a bedroom like that. The colors, patterns, and creative ideas were just perfect, and I loved the touch of whimsey in including Poe for your photos and commentary. Beautiful and well thought out details too! Just perfect!

Thank you Linda!
I know the pictures are smaller than usual. Not sure why because they’re pretty big files.
Thank you Ashley!

I love what you did with the bed, painting it gold. The room looks so much brighter. Great job!
Hi Rachel! Your guest room/cat room came out wonderful! Wow, that bed looks amazing in gold. I bet your cat is enjoying this new space 🙂
